Is branding Varun as communal right?

Sudden escalation of Varun Gandhi in his political stature through media by his infamous (may be or may not be) or famous speech forces me to put the things in right perspective. No one can deny this fact that Varun and Rahul are cousins and Rajiv and Sanjay were brothers and son of Indira Gandhi. Both share common political blood. Varun use to meet his uncle and aunt and cousins regularly and even Varun can not deny this fact.

There is no apparent feud between Sonia and Maneka. Trouble was between Indira Gandhi and Maneka Gandhi over some personal issues. I do not deliberately want to go into the nature of personal feud. But everyone knows this fact and Sanjay Gandhi was very close to her mother. Even today’s many congress political stalwarts were friend to Sanjay Gandhi. This may be the reason that till today congress does not strongly condemn Varun Gandhi.

Varun has said that I am Hindu and an Indian. This statement is not wrong. Everybody has freedom to profess his faith and religion and it is our constitutional right. What Vaun has done that his tone of the speech suggests that he is anti Muslim. You cannot brand anyone communal on this ground.

Varun is also not a natural ally of BJP. Initially BJP condemns his speech and now all are clubbing together to fight for Varun. Why this sudden change of heart? BJP is confused today. Everyday they are trying to do different things to capture popular votes. Varun also has become part of this temporary strategy. Suddenly Varun speech has galvanized BJP Hindutva plank. BJP leaders have started believing that Varun speech may turn out to be critical in UP. I do not want to guess who will win how many seats. But matter of the fact is that BJP has got ‘Sajinvini Booti’ in UP through Varun.

But if you look at Varun speech at different platform he never attacked his brother Rahul or aunti Sonia. Varun was part of the BJP strategy to put Varun against Rahul . But Varun never done this except speaking once that Sonia ji is not a leader she is Reader that too when he was forced to speak.

Now in lighter vein suppose Congress accepts Varun to join congress. It can be possible in Indian politics. Because politics is a game of numerous possibilities. Recently BJP MPs who voted in favour of congress during trust vote on nuclear issue have got congress ticket to fight election. Hero of Ayodhyaya Ram temple movement Kalyan Singh joined SP.
So what will be the scenario when scion of Indira Gandhi and congress legacy both Rahul and Varun join hands.!!!

What ever Varun Gandhi has stated is sufficient to spread hatred among the communities. If he did that unintentionally then he should have apologized for that.

Yes he should have made the things clear coz i think that may be he was addressing those extremists who are spreading terror in the whole world and not the peace loving muslims.

No doubt Varun Gandhi should not have said those words but I think that the matter has been a bit exaggerated by the media. There are thousands of extreme hindus and muslims who have passed such comments on each other in the past. This should not be given hype.

It is better that media gave it proper coverage.Media is blamed for not fulfilling it’s social obligations but in this case media has done well. It should keep exposing leaders like Varun Gandhi.

What about those comments made by muslims against hindus? No body even noticed this. Varun should be given a strict warning by the court to not to repeat this.

Why only BJP? Every political party is doing what ever that can do to harvest more and more votes. After all BJP has always championed the rights of Hindus. What is bad in it? Congress is afraid of Varun Gandhi emerging as national leader.

Varun Gandhi a leader of nation? By the way, which one nation? A tiny Hindu nation taking shape inside the minds of Hindu nationalists or the India which has secular credentials and respect for all the religions. Varun can be a leader of that small Hindu Rashtra flourishing in the hearts of Hindu extremists but can never be a leader of India.

He is communal, suffering from disease of hatred against Muslims. He is dangerous for the health of society and should be cured as early as possible or should be kept in isolation to avoid infection to others.

NO he should not be tagged communal as he's merely a puppet in the hands of the real champions of this game of politics.

Varun Gandhi is being used as puppet for election campaign by both Congress and BJP.
The congress biased (or the Ruling Govt biased)Media is tarnishing the image of Varun Gandhi. and trying to declare BJP as anti-Muslim just ahead of Elections.
The congress just wants their Muslim vote bank to be secured.
I have no doubt that Varun Gandhi spoke that words.but i also think he even higlighted some temples been destroyed their, some not anti hindu things their,
But the Media never spoke anything on this.
May be they r not concerned about facts.
As about the varun gandhi being Communal,Yes he is but i dont think its wrong.
When Muslims,Christens ,Dalits can stand up for their castes then why cant HE.
When Muslims from some other countries unite and kill our people with the help of some muslims here.
What’s Wrong in saying proudly i’m HINDU.

I agree 100% with Abhilaash. In the matter of promoting the caste when it comes to hindus people suddenly change their reactions. When Muslims or other sects cry for their religion no one says a single word. Rather they support them, but when it comes to hindu, it suddenly becomes a hate speech.
Media has unnecessarily highlighted the issue and the Congress has gained advantage out of it to get votes. Its all blame game in which by the end of the day, voters will be the ultimate losers. Open up your eyes and see what is actually going on rather than reacting without using the brains.
I am not saying that what he said was right but both the parties are using Varun Gandhi for their personal gains.

And one more question, he’s been arrested for saying that their names are scary and if you find such people at night, you’ll be scared. Good step taken and that too instantly. But when The same people says that who so ever does not obey the rules of Allah will be killed. Its ok to kill anyone who is against Allah and you’ll go to heaven, etc etc. Why the hell are those people not arrested and punished. When they openly challenge the world that we’ll kill your families and have even done that hundreds of time, why can’t govt do anything that time?

Tell Congress/BJP to stop acting like a lion inside their den. Come out and face the real challenge and take action against real hate spreading jerks. Then we’ll appreciate your guts.

Arresting Varun Gandhi doesn’t prove anything. Atleat he showed guts to defend his people which these hypocrites could never do. How easily you all have forgotten the number of serial blasts conducted in india in pasts 3-4 years including Mumbai attack. Shame on media and the citizens who are fighting amongst each other rather that fighting for one cause ie our national security.

Man you really bang the nail right deep into the head. This is the irony of India that it's no more a secular one, at least in practice. And the abhorred politicians have degraded the democracy. Here at some points I somewhat disagree with you. It's neither the Muslims not the Hindus are wrong but the corrupt politicians who've let the reins lose to increase the vote bank. Our founders of the nations have laid the strong lines for the secular nation but it's increasingly proving helpless in the lack of political will.

Before I say anything, let me make it clear that i support no religion but humanity and secularism for India. And as India is, so far, a secular country and there are rules against the communal factors, they should be implemented strictly. No one should be allowed to spread hate in the name of religion - be it Hindus or Muslims, as far as our Leaders are serious about avoiding the partition lines of 1947.

I don't think there is any need of declaring BJP as communal. Everybody knows it.
Being communal is not a bad thing. You should go to Afghanistan and join hands with Taliban.

Media has highlighted the issue? Media has done its job by exposing Varun.
If media had not highlighted the issue then you people would have blamed media for not doing its duty well.

Media should also highlight fiery speeches of progressive leaders, who are all the time cursing our traditions and culture in a very foul manner!!!

Media should also probe the intentions of people who declare that ”Muslims have first right on India”s resources”

Thanks all for commenting on my blog. But the moot point is that no addressing the core problem of hatred. Hatred cannot be handled by more hatred. We have to act tough but simultaneously we have to be prudent enough to rise above politicians off all colours. We are going through a phase where there is a leadership crisis. No political party has a leader who can rise above narrow poilitical gains and act for the citizen of the country whether he is muslim hindu christan, backward or forward. Share the national cake among all the stake holders on equitable basis not on equality basis. then we need not right hatred speech and no one can provoke any ones emotions of aal kind

Well said Devesh.
We have to address the core problem. Let us the isolate the religious fundamentalists so that they could not influence the people. Let us promote love and affection among all the religions.
