The problem is we start assessing the civilian government from day one. After a military regime such as the one that Pakistan has seen, it would take a long time for a civilian government to sink in its boots and get a firm foothold.

If we are questioning the civilian government, we are playing into the hands of those who wants the military regime back in Pakistan.

Even the US is more comfortable dealing with one military dictator than dealing with a whole bunch of leaders amongst whom nobody knows as to who is running the country.

Nevertheless, I would be least surprised if Musharraf makes a comeback.

Musharraf suits Kayani. He suits the militants. He suits the US. What more do you want?

In fact, I had predicted this way back in August 2008 when Musharraf resigned as the president of Pakistan.

Musharaff was more competent than the clowns running the country at the moment. What good is democracy when the ruling parties are more corrupt and incompetent than the dictator they replace?

He brought the country out of the corruption caused by corrupt “elected” leaders and created a great deal of infrastructure growth. If only he could respect the Rule of Law, he’d be one of Pakistan’s greatest leaders

Musharaff could just murder his opponents, thus less instability. Democracies are fickle and thus we get all this instability in pakistan.

Pakistan should be renamed to Army Republic of Pakistan.

We hate politicans. Only army can run this country... army and Imran Khan. :P

Vincent has rightly said that people questioning the civilian government in Pakistan are playing into hands of US.

There can be no alternate to democracy.
